Thousands of Personnel and Pumps Ready to Anticipate Tidal Flooding

The Jakarta Water Resources Agency (SDA) has deployed personnel to anticipate and handle flooding caused by tidal flooding surges in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

There are 3,908 personnel deployed in the field as a flood mitigation measure.

Jakarta SDA Agency Head, Ika Agustin Ningrum said personnel were also deployed to stand guard and conduct routine monitoring to ensure the field conditions remain under control.

"We hope this mitigation effectively anticipates floods caused by extreme weather and tidal flooding," she expressed, Thursday (11/20).

She explained, th North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency also conducted pump readiness as a flood mitigation effort, including stationary pumps, mobile pumps, and sluice gates.

"Mobile pumps are used to reach flood and flooded areas that cannot be accessed by stationary pumps," she explained.

Here is the list of pump houses and sluice gates on standby to anticipate tidal flooding:

• Marina Sluice Gate

• Asin River Pump/Polder

• Ancol Pump

• Junction PIK Pump

• Muara Angke Pump

• Pasar Ikan Pump

• Tanjungan Pump

• Pluit Reservoir Pump House

• Kamal Polder Pump House

"Residents are urged to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding," he stated.
